One of the key requirements of realising a successful McLaren Enterprise solution is to ensure all users understand their roles in the document management's business processes as well as understanding the tasks associated with these roles.
Most of a user's time is spent authoring documents and drawings. Once this task has been completed some form of document management control is required. This is where the user will interface with the McLaren Enterprise solution. The number and complexity of tasks a user will be required to undertake will depend upon their role in both the organization as well as the work based projects. For example a user may be a technical expert in the organization but may well be a contributor in one project and a reviewer in a second.
How do you support this type of ongoing user training - different sets of tasks, for differing projects required at different times? Does every user attend every training course to ensure they understand all tasks, even though a user may only be required to undertake one specific task, once in a few year's time? This is ultimately very inefficient. What is the solution?
A Desk Instruction is a self-contained mini-document (typically no more that 2 sides of a Letter size sheet of paper). It contains all the instructions required to accomplish a specific McLaren Enterprise Use Case. By creating these self-contained Desk Instructions you have maximum flexibility to deliver the appropriate documentation associated with each role in your organization. It also allows for users who undertake tasks specific to more than one role.
Our Desk Instructions are editable and can be changed to reflect your current McLaren Enterprise solution. This negates the need for updating any training manuals, which also reduces any possibilities of operational errors due to the user of old out-of-date manuals.
